The Winchester Model 1200 is a pump-action shotgun introduced in 1964 to replace the costly Model 12, featuring a lighter aluminum-alloy receiver and a rotating bolt with steel locking lugs engaging a barrel extension. Produced in 12, 16, and 20-gauge, it became popular for its smooth action, good balance, and reliable performance in various roles, from hunting to military service.
While production ceased in 1983 when it was replaced by the Model 1300, the Model 1200 remains a popular, inexpensive option on the used market, though its original barrels are not rated for steel shot.
