Description:
Early Native American beaded knife sheath with hand forged antique scalping knife. The sheath has a fully beaded front on brain tanned hide and lined with rawhide. With 5 different bead colors used. The knife blade marked with the blacksmith stamp, which I cannot read. The handle is buffalo horn and bound at the hilt with with a wrapping of copper wire,  The sheath is 9-7/8” long and 4 inches wide at the top. The knife is 12-1/4” overall, the  blade is 7-7/8” from hilt to point. This knife and sheath are in very good condition for the age.
An outstanding collectible for those that love hand forged iron, antique knives, 19th Century primitives, and old weapons. Note the heavy blood rust pitting on the blade.  From the collection of John Haltmeyer
