Now here is an interesting piece of military hardware. We have a Colt's model 1911 issued by the US Government on a verified date (I have 2 sources one is Colt Archives shown below) of 1918. The pistol is in exceptionally good condition, is as tight as a drum with a seriously strong recoil spring. The finish is a gray patina with most all the bluing gone. There is no rust or corrosion. The wood grips are nice and clean with vibrant checkering, no chips no cracks. The mag well slick and clean. The firearm is C&R qualified.
The little snippet of info provided me is that the pistol was manufactured near the end of WWI. It went into gov't storage and then re-issued for WWII. I do not know what theater of the war. Once returned to post WWII stateside gov't possession, it was refitted and then re-issued for the Korean war. After returning post Korea, it gets dim and found its way into the hand of a collector. I do not pretend to be an expert on war time firearms - I'm just the seller and this is a consignment item. If you have questions, if I can't answer, I'll gladly forward to the owner where hopefully the info can be provided for you. I tried to include as much of the stamped information as possible.
