Description:
.68 caliber, 28" heavy swamped octagon barrel.  Convex lock marked "I-S- TANNER".  Full length relief carved stock with horn forend cap and sliding wooden cap-box.  Brass mounts and an unusual double set trigger.  There is a 1703 dated "HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE" Thaler silver coin inlaid into the wrist.  A beautiful example with what appears to have been an early restoration now retaining nearly all of the barrel finish.  Bright lock and mellow unpolished brass mounts.  Lovely wood and carving.  Tanner worked in Hanover from 1761-1807.
