B. Halliday began his career at W.J. Jeffery & Co, but in 1921 struck out on his own, establishing his firm at 60 Queen Victoria Street. Not long after, he was joined by Watson A. Greenfield, another craftsman from Jeffery, and together they carried the Halliday name forward until around 1960.
This example stands apart for its game scene engraved action, a feature not often encountered on A&D actions. The right side of the bar displays a vignette of two English setters, while the left shows a group of pheasants, all framed by border and acanthus scroll. Traces of original case color still highlight the engraving.
It features 30" sleeved barrels, nitro proofed at 3 Tons, with clean bores that ring clear. The barrels are on face and tight on the action. Stock dimensions suit many modern shooters well, and the action mechanically excellent throughout.
