All the way back through pre-flintlock days, the pursuit for a repeating firearm was a concept on the mind of gun designers and innovators of the time. The goal was simply to develop a more efficient firearm that could allow the user to off as many shots as possible with minimum effort. A concept emerged during this period to load several loads of powder and ball into a single barrel instead of relying on multiple barrels. This concept called for several flash holes to be cut into the barrel at the location of each separate charge inside the barrel. The ignition would work separately from front to rear, with the goal being to launch the first load in the stack without setting off the other charges behind. These arms came to be known as “superposed” loaded guns. Several different versions of these “superposed” loaded firearms were developed throughout the black powder era. The overall condition is good. Original brown patina. The stock is refinished with a crack at the top of the wrist that shows movement when pressure is applied. There is also a crack on the right side of the butt. The action is strong. “Remington” marked on the left barrel flat. Crescent buttplate. Fully functioning set trigger. The bore is dim and remains in good shape with serviceable rifling. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 31 inches. Caliber: .45 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail!
