This Dumoulin Deluxe Dangerous Game rifle in the formidable .505 Gibbs chambering is a true African safari–ready big-bore built on a robust Mauser-style action with a three-position safety. It features a 26-inch barrel, a quarter rib with a standing 50-yard gold line rear sight and flip-up 75- and 100-yard leaves with gold inlaid yard markings, and a ramped, banded front sight with a flip-over moon sight—an ideal setup for dangerous game hunting. A set of 30 mm Holland & Holland–style scope mounts and rings are installed, giving the rifle versatility for both iron-sight and scoped use.
The action retains 99% of its original blued finish, tastefully accented with light border engraving and scroll motifs, extended top and bottom tangs, and a steel pistol grip cap. The barrel retains 99% of its original blue as well. Mechanically, it is in excellent shape with a smooth action, crisp trigger, and a clean bore with strong rifling.
The stock is made from beautifully figured walnut with dark scalloping grain and features sharp checkering on the pistol grip and forend, an ebony forend tip, and a leather-covered recoil pad for a 14.5-inch length of pull. A lead recoil reducer has been installed in the stock, making the powerful .505 Gibbs cartridge more manageable. Sling swivel studs are mounted on the belly of the stock and on a band at the barrel. The stock shows only faint handling marks typical of honest use.
At 11 lb 12 oz, this rifle has the weight and build appropriate for serious dangerous game hunting. Elegant, powerful, and built to last, this Dumoulin is a top-tier example of a classic African big-game bolt rifle.
