Description:
Here is an exquisite, beautiful, one of a kind 1851 Navy engraved by the master engraver Alvin A. White. The gun is a second generation Model C1121 Colt Black powder Series that exhibits presentation grade Donut Scroll engraving with the Colt family Coat of Arms on the left barrel lug and a sailing ship on the right barrel lug. Additionally, it has a one piece ivory grip (Pre Ban) and the accessories are also engraved. The blackstrap is inscribed “To Wm.H. Myers / From Saml Colt.”
All accessories and revolver are cased in an early 2nd generation W 5051 presentation case with the Colt blue satin lined lid with the rampant colt logo in the center. The outer lid has a serpentine Colt logo inlaid on the lower right.
This masterpiece is a very rare, one of a kind, and is the 1st 1851 Navy engraved by Alvin White as so inscribed under the left grip “1st COLTNAVY BY A. A. WHITE 1972”
It is stamped AAW ENG under the left grip and it is inscribed AAW-1972 on the underside of the barrel.
Also this 1851 Navy was featured on Page 365 of R. L. Wilson’s book “The Book of Colt Engraving” (published in1974). The book is included in the sale.
