Joe Bowman Showman Collection includes:
- 2 Ruger Blackhawk revolvers custom built and engraved by Joe Bowman.
- Matching quick draw holster and belt rig, custom tooled by Bowman.
- Pair of “Cattle Brand” style boots, custom tooled by Bowman.
This collection of custom Ruger revolvers, quick draw rig and cattle brand boots were custom made by Joe Bowman of Houston, Texas. Bowman was expert marksman, western showman and maker of custom firearms and leatherwork.
Mr. Bowman’s precision target acquisition skills were legendary in the shooting world. He was also a skilled in gunsmith and leather work. He built and engraved his own custom guns and leather work for clients from Roy Rogers to Robert Duval. He taught shooting and gun handling skills to law enforcement and Hollywood stars. He was an advisor to Bill Ruger who created a commemorative Bowman revolver.
From the estate of Leo Shepherd, Lifelong Federal Marshal. Mr. Shepherd hired Joe Bowman to teach pistol and rifle target acquisition at the FBI academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Details:
2 matching custom Ruger Blackhawk .44 special revolvers with sambar stag grips. These revolvers have undergone extensive custom modification. Old model 3 screw .357 mid-frame with cylinders bored to .44 caliber. 4 5/8” 44 cal. Barrel. The top strap of the frame has been shaved and milled for Colt style sight picture. The front sight has been replaced with a serrated, high blade sight. Lowered hammer spur with diamond pattern thumb tang. Colt style cylinder pin.
Engraved by Bowman with his signature style engraving pattern. Chromed and perfectly tuned. Light spring set. 2lb trigger pull.
Built to replicate the frame size and balance of the 44 Colt SAA with the more robust Ruger Blackhawk frame and action. Bill Ruger duplicated these specs for the reintroduced mid-frame .44 special Blackhawk in 2009.
Custom made belt and fitted holsters. Holsters are fitted to these revolvers, shaped and splayed for quick draw. Belt sized 44-50”. Silver inlaid buckle and “LS” monogram on back. Hand tooled by Joe Bowman.
Custom made “Cattle Brand” style cowboy boots, size 10. Ostrich hide and calf shoulder tops and heels for comfort. Cattle brand patterns from Texas ranches, hand crafted by Joe Bowman.
