Winchester pre-64 and pre-war model 70 Super Grade bolt action rifle. 30 Gov’t 06 (30-06) caliber. Shipped in a hard case. Serial #8604 which dates to 1937. Made in USA. 1937 is actually the 2nd year of model 70 production, so this rifle has seen and possibly created some history. The barrel length is 24 inches. LOP is 13.25" from the trigger to the Winchester patent date recoil pad. Weight is 8lb even. Trigger is adjustable and is set at 4 lb 12 oz. The rifle has a blank installed in the rear sight dovetail to provide a clear view thru the Lyman peep sight to the front sight. The front sight is original and is not hooded - due to the use of a peep sight. The receiver is drilled and taped for scope bases. The period correct front and rear Super Grade sling swivel bases are installed. The rifle is in very good condition with beautiful deep blued steel and exceptional figured walnut woodgrain. The rifle has Super Grade stamped on the exterior of the hinged steel magazine floor plate. The rifling and grooves in the barrel are in great condition. Excellent sample for a pre-64 / pre-war Winchester fan to own. Shipping costs include packaging, FFL transfer on my end, USPS shipping the rifle in the lower 48 states, and full insurance. Shipping to Alaska is a few bucks more.
