Winchester pre-64 Model 70 Featherweight Monte Carlo bolt action rifle. 308 Win caliber. Serial 268074 which dates to 1953. Made in USA. The barrel is 22 inch. Rifle has the original open rear sight and a hooded front sight. The receiver is drilled and taped for scope bases. The 308 was introduced in 1952. Winchester only sold the 308 in their “Featherweight” model as a standard offering, but they only had 10 years of sales until 1964. Only 7.1% of pre-64 model 70s are in 308 Win caliber, so this rifle is somewhat rare. I’ve only seen a picture of one 308 standard version. I’ve read that Win only made 3 standards as special orders, and they sell for big bucks. Weight is 6 lb 14 oz. A Standard model 70 is 8 lbs. LOP is 13” from trigger to the butt plate. Trigger is 6 lb 12 oz. Has an alloy trigger guard and magazine hinged floor plate to reduce weight. The rifle is in very good condition with beautiful deep blued steel and nice figured walnut wood grain. The rifling and grooves in the barrel are in great condition. Excellent sample for a Pre-64 Winchester Featherweight fan to own. Shipping costs include packaging, FFL transfer on my end, USPS shipping the rifle in the lower 48 states, and full insurance. Shipping to Alaska is a few bucks more.
