Description:
This is an M1 Carbine Manufactured by Saginaw Grand rapids Division between 6-9/1943. Irwin Pederson failed to deliver an M1 carbine to Army ordinance they would approve. IP never delivered a single rifle to Army Ordinance. This prompted the sale of Irwin Pederson's contract to Saginaw a division of General Motors. They took over IP's plant in Grand Rapids Michigan, It was decided that to differentiate between the 2 divisions seperate manufacturers stamps would be used, SG for Saginaw and S'G' or IP for Saginaw Grand Rapids. There is no such thing as a strictly correct IP carbine. All S'G'/IP carbines were produced and accepted by Army Ordinance were a combination of IP and S'G' parts. An IP receiver is rare to find and more valuable than an S'G' receiver, but that is the only difference between these carbines. This M1 carbine is serial #1864... which is a serial # that is an IP contract #. This rifle is correct all parts are the correct type and Manufacturer stamp. Roger Larsons "Comprehensive Guide to the M1 Carbine" was used to authenticate these parts and a "U.S. M1 carbine Survey(revised)" sourced from Craig Riesch's book "US M1 carbines,Wartime Production".I am providing a hard copy of this in a PDF file along with photos of all manufacturer's stamped parts on a flash drive. Rifle also comes with one 15 rd K SG magazine, WW2 sling and buttstock ammo pouch, and a IS stamped oiler. Rifle will be shipped in a quality well padded case. The rifle is mounted in Oval highwood stock with S'G' and Ordinance cartousches with RSG  stamped handguard. Stock was stripped and then treated with a 3 oil 6 step method used by CMP custom garand shop. 2 coats Danish oil, 2 coats Tung oil, and 2 coats Teak oil (waterproofs) Shipping is for oversized parcel for case and insurance.
