Checkered grip stock with contrasting wood caps, Leupold Vari-X 3–9x Compact, Conetrol mounts — fired <30 times, very good condition. Ranger Arms produced the Texas Magnum as a premium American hunting rifle in the 1960s. This example — serial number 1007, Sprague’s Number: 158730 — is a Governor’s grade build from 1969, representing one of Ranger’s higher grade finished rifles with fine woodwork and attention to detail. The rifle comes with the original Ranger Arms pamphlet “The Texas Maverick — The Texas Magnum,” which complements the provenance. Description & highlights: Left-hand bolt action rifle (built for left-handed shooters). Governor’s grade checkered walnut stock with eye catching contrasting wood grip cap and forend caps — attractive, well matched grain and finish. 24" blued barrel in .270 Winchester chambering — balances accuracy and handling for hunting and vintage sporting use. Mounted with a Leupold VARI-X 3–9x Compact scope on Conetrol mounts (secure, low profile). Scope is included and correctly torqued/mounted for this rifle. Excellent mechanical condition: bolt and action smooth; safety and trigger function correctly. Provenance: Serial 1007 (Ranger Arms) and Sprague’s Number 158730. Accompanied by Ranger Arms publication “The Texas Maverick — The Texas Magnum.” Usage: Fired fewer than 30 times, carefully stored and maintained — shows light handling/wear consistent with very good condition. Condition details: Metal finish: Has been re-blued, no markings on the right side of he receiver, Minor handling marks only; no pitting or corrosion visible. Bluing intact. Barrel & bore: Clean and bright (no visible pitting). Bore excellent for age — good lands and grooves. Stock & furniture: Very good — strong finish, tight checkering; minimal dings/shelf wear consistent with light use. Contrasting wood caps show no cracks or repairs. Scope & mounts: Leupold VARI-X 3–9x Compact in good condition; optics clear; Conetrol mounts fitted and solid. Function: Smooth jeweled bolt travel, crisp lockup, safe operates as designed.
