Description:
August Francotte 12g Eagle Grade 45E based on Francotte's patened boxlock action with sideplates, Doll's head and hidden crossbolt, clipped fences, intercepting sears, two triggers, and an automatic safety.
Carved fences have acanthus leaves giving way to small traditional scroll. Sideplates and bottom of action have full coverage small traditional scroll with birds superimposed over the scroll engraving. The balance of the aciton in a more elaborate scroll and a gold eagle and shield inlayed on the bottom of the action.
Butt stock is French walnut with semi-pistol grip and large forend (beavertail) with a pushrod release and automatic ejectors. 14 1/4" LOP over a leather faced rubber recoil pad. There is a crack behind the right lockplate and the receiver has patinaed to a dull gray.
28" chopper lump barrels of Siemen Martin fluid steel measure .731" in the right barrel and .734" in the left barrel with two removable chokes that measure roughly .030" or 3/4 choke. Raised concave matted rib, original 2 3/4" chambers with .028" min. wall thickness in the right barrel and .025" min. wall thickness in the left barrel.
Bores are good and barrels retain nearly all their original black finish. Barrels are tight on face.
