Description:
Scarce Swiss Army Vetterli repeating rifle with 10 round tube magazine. Slightly shorter sharp shooter (Stutzer) version of the 1871 infantry rifle. Early production - pre 1873 as the receiver & barrel are stamped MW for Eidgenoessische Montierwekstatt Bern (Confederate assembly plant of Bern). Clear inspection marks on metal and wood, all matching serial numbers, double set trigger, Swiss butt, correct cleaning rod. OAL=50.4", LOP=12.4", barrel=30.1". Good action & trigger, excellent bore, originally chambered for the M63 10.4x38R rim fire cartridge, now converted to center fire by the Swiss master gunsmith Roger Rerat of Laufen. CF brass can be made from 8mm Lebel (8x50R). Good stock with some minor handling marks, good metal condition with some loss of blue finish and few spots of patina / light frosting. Add this early sniper rifle to your collection.
