Description:
The 788 is a unique rifle, designed to meet the need for a "low" price hunting rifle, it features a set of nine locking lugs at the rear of the bolt. This made the manufacture of the receivers quite simpler as the precision required for the front locking bolt was needed. It was a mixed bag for Remington as they shot like gangbusters, and as a result, pirated sales from the more profitable Model 700 line. This one isn't as pretty as it has been hunted, and has the scratches to prove it. It will, however, be a favorite for hunting as the barrel has been shortened to make it more compact and easier to carry. .308 Winchester
