This rifle is a 1930 version of the original Model 1891. When Finland gained independence from Russia in late 1917, there were already over 190,000 Model 1891 rifles stored in the old Russian military depots within Finland. Because of this, the Finnish Army adopted the rifle as its standard weapon, and they also bought surplus Mosin–Nagants from other European countries that had captured them during World War I. These rifles were then overhauled to meet Finnish standards and labeled as the M/91. Starting around 1940, companies like Tikkakoski and VKT began producing new M/91 rifles. VKT stopped making them in 1942 to switch over to the newer M/39, but Tikkakoski kept making the M/91 through 1944. The Model 1891 became the most commonly issued rifle for Finnish soldiers during both the Winter War and the Continuation War. The overall condition is good. Arsenal refurbished.
