Described by historian R.L. Wilson as as the "Rolls-Royce of Colt revolvers." Description: Beautiful early production Colt Python, .357 Magnum Revolver, SN: 7408, made 1959, with 6-inch barrel having a ventilated rib and brilliant Royal Blue finish. Fixed serrated ramp front sight and Elliason-type adjustable rear sight. Serial number "7408" is marked on the frame with matching number on the crane. Left side of barrel bears "PYTHON 357/.357 MAGNUM CTG" markings with the rampant Colt logo engraved on the frame, while the right side of barrel displays "COLT'S PT.F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." Checkered walnut grips with gold plated Colt medallions, target hammer, trigger shoe, matching test target and faux wood/green lined Colt shipping box marked "PYTHON REVOLVER ("Made in 1955" sharpie marked), ".357 MAGNUM", "6 INCH BBL.", and "COLT BLUE". Matching SN in large handwritten numeral on bottom. The Python was first introduced in 1955 as Colt's top-of-the-line model, featuring the first use of Colt's Royal Blue finish achieved through high polishing before bluing. Described by historian R.L. Wilson as "the Rolls-Royce of Colt revolvers" and by firearms historian Ian V. Hogg as the "best revolver in the world", this example represents the pinnacle of American revolver craftsmanship. Condition: Gorgeous 99++% original blue. The right side of barrel has three pinpoint flecks of oxidation near the muzzle. Negligible cylinder ring that does not break the blue finish. Slight thinning of ejector rod. Comparable condition grips. Mirror bore. Test target is in EXC condition. G-VG box with taped repairs encircling lid that has a separation from base. Sharpie end-labeling incorrect as revolver was made in 1959, not 1955. An absolutely beautiful revolver that would be very difficult to upgrade. Price: $7,995.00 Manufacturer: Colt Model: Python Serial Number: 7408 Caliber Info: .357 Magnum Condition: EXC |
