This engraved Walther has a dual Purdey underlug barrel locking system with only one lug protruding through the receiver when closed, similar to shotguns produced by J.P.Sauer & Sohn. The Walther also uses a Greener cross bolt that makes it a very, very strong locking system/design. Though England and Belgium were the epicenter for European gunmaking all the way through the turn of the century, fine hunting guns were also produced by German manufacturers. This is a German fowling piece that is elegant in its simplicity and practicality. This double barrel hammerless gun would have been used for putting game on the table, spending a fun afternoon skeet shooting, or defending one’s property. Though most well known for their production of military weapons during World War II, this is a high quality attractive longarm. This gun features the “Crown/N” proof marks that were used before 1940, when the proof after was the “Eagle/N”. Comb drop 1 ¾” Heel drop 2 ¾” Weight: 6.5 pounds with sling The overall condition is fine. Original blue finish. The stock is refinished and remains good with little wear. Markings are legible.
