Description:
While the Sterlingwoth was Fox's lowest grade at the time (early 1930's) and were probably considered a hardware store gun ...to us it is almost impossible to find a gun that handles nicer, points more naturally, lighter (5 1/2lbs or perhaps an ounce over). Desptie it approaching its 100 yr anniversay ...it locks with the authority of a bank value (this is true of almost any we have handlied). And after 90 some years the leve is still strait and there is not play or looseness in the action , no delamination of the rib or other, only wear on the checkering from having seen time in the North East Grouse and Woodcock covers. Bores are good and there is no rust or pitting and no cracks in the stock. The slender wrist feels like the prom queens waist in you're hands, its a pleaser to carry or point and swing in you're gun room.
Chambers are 2 5/8...while any gunsmith might lenghen these it is easeir to just buy RST shells for reasonable prices. Barrels are 26 choke
M/F. Drop is `1 1/2 and approx 3 ..while this seems a lot of drop it comes up and points exactly where it should ...even with youl're eyes closed. No case colors remain...
LOP to end of thin vintage Red Head Pad 14 1/2....LOP to end of wood is 13 3/4
We've priced this hundreds under others like it so it might be taken into the field this fall doing what it was intended to
Shipping is $ 60
