Looking for a project? Here it is. This gun is rough but has potential. The barrel, butt plate, lever and action all have heavy rust. The brass receiver and end cap has rust, discoloration and flaking. The wood stock has discoloration and some heavy scuffs / scratches. We did not fire this gun, but mechanically, everything seems to be working. However, the action isn‚t very smooth. This gun was a classic and has potential to be restored or just cleaned and made a shooter.
The Winchester Centennial ‚66 30-30 is a lever-action commemorative rifle produced in 1966 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Winchester Repeating Arms. It was based on the Model 94, with cosmetic features that harken back to the \"Yellow Boy\" Model 1866 rifle.
Key features:
Carbine: A shorter version with a 20-inch octagonal barrel and a seven-round capacity.
Gold-plated components: The receiver, forearm cap, and buttplate were gold-plated to replicate the brass frame of the original 1866 \"Yellow Boy\" rifle.
Octagonal barrel: Both versions feature an octagonal barrel with a deep blued finish.
Commemorative engravings: The right side of the barrel is engraved with \"A Century of Leadership 1866-1966,\" while the top tang is marked \"WINCHESTER CENTENNIAL ‚66\".
Wood stock: The rifle has a straight-hand, high-grade American walnut stock with a hand-rubbed oil finish.
