Universal Firearms began manufacturing carbines in 1961 and continued through 1986, producing over 426,000 carbines over the 25 year period. In the beginning, their carbines were 100% compatible with surplus GI carbine parts, as their carbines included many of those surplus parts. As surplus parts became scarce, Universal began using commercially manufactured substitutes. Overall, the Universal carbine retained the outward appearance and ammunition of the original U.S. M1 Carbine, with the internal design and parts being a hybrid replica of the original M1. Here's a little history of the U.S. M1 Carbine. The .30 caliber semi-automatic rifle was first used by the United States Armed Forces on October 22, 1941, and there were 10 manufacturers that received orders to produce this rifle, with 6,110,730 carbines produced by all manufacturers during the war. Despite having similar name and appearance, the M1 Carbine is not a carbine version of the M1 Garand rifle. They are different firearms and use different ammunition. The overall condition is very good. Original blue finish. The stock is good with little wear. Crisp, legible markings. The action is strong. Bright bore has sharp rifling. Good canvas sling. The oiler is weathered in appearance. Own the original! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 18 inches. Caliber: .30 Carbine Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast.
