Description:
This historic model 1873 Springfield Officers Model carbine replica was made by Harrington & Richardson c1971 to replicate the Model made by Springfield Armory and offered for sale to Officers. Less that 500 were made and sold. The originals are very rare. This gun is in outstanding condition with a bright, shiny bore in the 26 inch barrel. The wrist and forearm are checkered and it has an engraved pewter fore-end cap. There is engraving on the action, lock, and forearm band. It has a cleaning rod under the barrel. This would have been very helpful for the original guns as the cartridges used at the time had copper cases and they would often stick in the chambers and the extractor would rip through the cartridge rim and the empty case would stay in the chamber requiring the solder to use a knife or rod to clear the chamber. Custer's troopers experienced this problem. This is a nice gun for the collector, hunter and shooter.
