Here we present a Modern Marlin Firearms Company 9mm Model 9 Camp Carbine Semi-Automatic Rifle made during its production run between 1985 and 2000 in North Haven, Connecticut. This Marlin Camp carbine is a self-loading carbine chambered for either 9mm Parabellum formerly manufactured by Marlin Firearms Company of North Haven, Connecticut. As the name implies, it was designed as a utility firearm to be used around hunting camps for foraging or defense. It was made in 9mm Parabellum and .45 ACP calibers and can use the same magazines as popular handguns in those calibers, in keeping with a convenient American tradition of having a carbine and handgun using common ammunition. The carbine operates by direct blowback. Usually, as is this example, the receiver is drilled and tapped for a scope mount.
The action included a manual bolt hold-open with an automatic last-shot bolt hold-open and a loaded chamber indicator. The walnut stained Maine Birch stock came standard with a rubber rifle butt pad and swivel studs. This gun came with either a 12 or optional 20-shot detachable magazine.
Having passed this handy little centerfire pistol caliber carbine’s 25th anniversary of its retirement, the Camp Carbine models still deliver even as they become more collectible.
The overall condition is excellent. Original finish. Excellent action. Shiny bright bore with sharp rifling. Very fine stick with minimal handling evidence. Markings are crisp.
