Description:
Antique Winchester 1876.. Here is a super nice and clean collector grade Winchester 1876 with S/N 59301 and made in late 1886 or early 1887. Received in warehouse 1887. It is in the desirable 45-75 caliber. Cody Worksheet is included and all is correct. Has the standard 28” round barrel. This 1876 has a lot of bright blue on the barrel.. I would put it at a strong 80%.. Very nice traces of blue on the receiver and side plates also but is starting to thin as you can see in the photos. I little more on the right side. All of the bright and vivid case colors are on the face of the hammer. Some traces of case color on the lever as well in the protected areas. Most all the blue is remaining on the lower tang. All the markings are excellent. The bore is very nice for an 1876. Still has some shine with some frosting and very minor light roughness but still has nice rifling with no big pits or craters and no rings or bulges. Mechanics are excellent and this gun functions smooth like new. Both hammer notches are perfect and positive. Feeds, fires and ejects like new. Shoots great with my hand loads. Has the original dust cover that is still tight as new and closes with that somewhat magnetic feel. It retracts perfectly with the lever throw as designed. Has the original front and rear sights with the rear being the long range ladder type and is marked 1876. All of the screw heads are excellent and look untouched and not tool marked. The wood is excellent. The forearm fits full and tight to the metal. No splits or cracks but one dent on the bottom by the front of the receiver as the photo shows. The butt stock is excellent and fits tight and full with no splits or cracks. No dents or scratches and still shows some original varnish. Over all this is a wonderful and untouched never messed with 1876 that has been very well taken care of over all these years. Lots of bright blue, excellent wood, very nice bore and in the great 45-75 caliber. Way much better than the gray brown ones that you normally see around the $3000 dollar range. This one cost a little more but well worth the price and still reasonable. Absolutely collector quality. Don't miss this one.!!!!! Shipping is $60 registered insured mail.
