Belgian Anciens Establishment Pieper Sidelock, a classic Belgian sidelock from the renowned Pieper workshop, exemplifies traditional field gun craftsmanship with a timeless silhouette and reliable handling for upland and game use. This piece represents the era’s attention to detail and the enduring appeal of a well-made side-by-side in 16 gauge, balanced for field performance.

This particular Belgium-made example, dating to 1924, features 28" barrels and 2 3/4" chambers in 16 Ga with an overall length of 44 1/2". It has a boxlock-like arrangement with a side-by-side action, a straight English stock, and a neutral cast. The chokes are L: 13/500 IM and R: 3/200 Mod, with a solid rib that tapers from 13 mm to 8 1/2 mm. LOP is 14 1/4" with LOP to Wood 14 1/8", DAC 1 3/4", DAH 2 3/8", and palm swell listed as No. The piece bears the Belgian origin and carries a FastBound inventory number of 03862; it is priced at $695 and requires a FFL license for transfer. It comes from Anciens Establishment Pieper (AEP) and is a sidelock design built in Herstal with Bayard steel, and features a Knight on a horse Bayard logo stamped on both sides; Barrels were produced using the Demi-Bloc process by skilled craftsmen, with proofs marked “Pour Poudres Vives” for smokeless powder. A few handling marks on the stock and a small indent on the left hand side are present, with about 80% of barrel bluing remaining, and a silver bead sight for quick target acquisition.
