Offered is a Steyr Mannlicher style rifle (commonly referenced as Steyr M1898 / related Mannlicher military/sporting patterns) showing a crown over “W" stamp on the right side of the buttstock and a “1940 Hembrug" acceptance/arsenal marking. The Hembrug mark indicates Dutch arsenal/inspection involvement (Hembrug handled Dutch military rifles), and the crown/W stock stamp is an inspector/acceptance-style proof mark often found on European military/sporting rifles.
Caliber:
There is no caliber stamped on the barrel. Based on research and comparable rifles, likely possibilities include 6.5mm (various 6.5 Mannlicher types), 6.5x54R Mannlicher-style rounds, or a 7.62 (Steyr) chambering — however, we cannot confirm which one this rifle is without a chamber/barrel measurement or headstamp/chamber inspection.
