Description:
- The Browning BT-99 is a single-barrel trap shotgun produced for Browning by Miroku (Japan). Miroku made many Browning shotguns under license beginning in the 1960s and 1970s; their workmanship and fit/finish built a strong reputation among shooters.
- The BT-99 was designed as a purpose-built clay target/trap gun: simple, durable, and finished to a level appropriate for serious target use. It followed Browning’s long tradition of quality break-open shotguns but in a single-barrel trap configuration intended for competition and recreational trap shooters who wanted a dedicated single-shot practice/companion gun.
- By the early 1970s Miroku-built Brownings were well established in the U.S. market; a 1973 BT-99 is an early-era example and is desirable to shooters who appreciate solid mechanical function with good original finish and stock work.
Description
- Action/type: Single-barrel, break-open, top-lever or tang release with ejector (ejects fired hulls when opened). Mechanically solid action.
- Barrel: 32″ vented rib, blued finish; bright, smooth bore with excellent appearance and a clean, smooth bore surface; white bead front sight with white mid-bead on the rib. Barrel bluing shows light wear and handling marks. 12 Gauge, 2-3/4" chamber, fixed IMPROVED MODIFIED choke.
- Receiver & metalwork: Blued, engraved receiver (typical Browning/Miroku floral or scroll engraving patterns) with light wear on bottom/edges consistent with handling and use. Gold trigger. No safety.
- Stock & furniture: Very nice checkered walnut grip stock with beavertail forearm; checkering distinct and sharp with only a few small handling marks; finish overall light wear with a few moderate handling marks. Length of pull (LOP): 14½″. Adjustable comb and fitted with a KICK-EEZ recoil pad (helps reduce perceived recoil).
- Sights & fit: White bead front sight and mid-bead for pointing; good for clay-target alignment and quick target acquisition.
- Condition: Very nice overall condition for a 1973 gun — mechanically solid, bright smooth bore, light handling marks on metal and stock, normal wear on high-contact edges.
- Serial Number: 37D19440
- Sprague's Number: 158979
