The 20.2-inch carbon-steel barrel retains its blued finish and employs a 4-groove right-hand twist, delivering reliable accuracy with surplus or modern 7.62x54R ammunition. The fixed five-round magazine feeds through a smooth, robust bolt that made the Mosin-Nagant platform famous for battlefield simplicity.
An integral, side-folding cruciform spike bayonet defines the M44 design. When folded, it keeps the rifle compact; when extended, it locks securely without tools—an iconic feature valued by collectors and reenactors alike.
Stock has a birch/beech hardwood finish, complete with finger grooves and sling slots. Matching serial numbers on major components add cohesion and desirability, while the tangent rear sight remains correctly graduated to 1,000 meters.
