This exceptionally rare Browning Belgium Custom Shop B3 Limited Edition Auto 5 represents the pinnacle of craftsmanship from FN Herstal’s renowned artisans in Liège, Belgium, created for the Browning Arms Company. Chambered in 20 gauge for 2.75" shells, this masterpiece combines the legendary Auto 5’s proven reliability with the elegance and artistry reserved for the finest bespoke firearms. The 26" vent-rib barrel, topped with a silver front bead, is threaded for Invector chokes and comes complete with five original chokes and the factory choke key, offering unmatched versatility in the field or on the range.
The coin-finished action is adorned with large open scrollwork framing exquisite game scenes, including setters and flushing woodcock on both sides, with the FN logo subtly placed at the rear of the right panel. The top of the action proudly bears the inscriptions “Limited Edition Made in Belgium” and “Original Auto 5,” further embellished with fine scroll and signed by master engraver Romanville B. at the rear above the trigger guard. Faint “Spider webbing” underneath protective gloss finish. The barrel retains 99% of its original deep blued finish, speaking to the care with which this shotgun has been preserved.
The exhibition-grade walnut stock and forend display rich figure and warm color, accented by sharp checkering on the round-knob pistol grip and forend. Light handling marks, consistent with careful use, are the only testament to its age. With a length of pull measuring 14.5", drop at comb of 1.625", and drop at heel of 2.5", the gun balances beautifully at just over 7 pounds, delivering both comfort and control. Mechanically excellent, with a crisp trigger and silky-smooth cycling, this Auto 5 is as functional as it is collectible.
