Chokes SK/IM, LOP 15", DAH 2 7/16", DAC 1 1/2" Serial Number: 16-03-509-00 From the AyA : The N° 4 has been AYA’s standard boxlock design since 1960. It is modelled on a Westley Richards boxlock action, brought to Spain by the King brothers. The Anson & Deeley action, the most famous of all boxlock designs, was created by two employees of Westley Richards in 1875, and ever since, Westley Richards guns have defined boxlock elegance.” THE MODEL 4/53 IS THE NO. 4 BOXLOCK EJECTOR ACTION PAIRED WITH THE MORE HIGHLY FIGURED NO. 53 WOOD AND FINER FIT AND FINISH OF THE NO. 53, HENCE THE MODEL 4/53. The Model 4/53 also received much more attention to the finishing details such as the barrels and trigger guard received a higher degree of polish than on the basic No. 4 model. The wood received a luxurious hand-rubbed oil finish to bring out the warmth, color, and figure of the upgraded stocks. The result is a high-grade, lightweight, well-balanced gun with the beauty of fine finish and the simple elegance of subdued engraving in the way of light scroll embellishments on the action and trigger guard. This beautiful AyA No. 4/53 was proofed in 2000 and remains in near-new, factory original condition showing 99%+ factory finish on all metal and wood. The gun weighs just 5lbs. 14oz. and balances just forward of the hinge pin. The 28” chopper lump barrels (same method of joining the two barrels used by Purdey, Holland & Holland, and all the makers of the finest shotguns in the world) have mirror bores, tight ribs, 3” chambers, and are choked SK/IM and have perfect mirror-like bores. The action retains all of its bright factory case color, perfect screws and mechanics, with strong well-timed and strong ejectors and crisp trigger pulls. The barrels are tight on the hinge pin and breech face like a new gun. This gun may be built 25 years ago, but it appears to be a closet queen, as it has not been carried in the field. What a bargain on a finely built upland ejector gun that has a hundred years left in it and then some. AyA is known for building reliable, well-made guns, and this is one of them. Examine the photos and you will see a delightful, scaled frame 20-gauge ejector gun, with perfect screws, gorgeous English walnut with great dimensions (see specifications below) and no signs of use but a few safe dings, see the photos for all the details.
