Description:
This is a British P-1839 Socket Bayonet for use with Lovell Catch on the 1842 musket and 1851 Minie rifle. This bayonet is in excellent original condition with bright finish 17" blade with many signs of use with a bit of mottling, nice tip and a slight angle deviation 1 ½" into the blade. The ricasso is marked "Crown over B/15", S.HILL being the maker. This is a converted bayonet that has some of the collar removed and a lug welded for the catch. Over-all a very nice example.
