Colt King Cobra – 357 Mag – 6" Barrel – Early Model Manufactured 1988
The King Cobra model was first produced in 1986. It was primarily based on the Colt Trooper Mark V. Ours (serial number 9074KC) rolled off the assembly line in 1988.
These revolvers were offered in several different barrel lengths and finishes. Our has a 6 inch solid rib barrel, a cylinder that holds 6 rounds of either 357 Mag or 38 Special and a stainless finish.
The hammer is an enlarged target hammer. The rear sight is a white outline and the front sight is an orange ramp. Grips are a black neoprene with finger grooves and have the rampant Colt medallion embedded in the grip.
The revolver has a good bore, bright barrel and the rifling appears to be in good shape. The grips are in Very Good condition and show only light wear. The stainless finish is almost entirely intact except for the expected wear ring on the cylinder.
We find one mechanical issue with the revolver. It will not consistently cock the hammer in double action mode. The fact that this is just an occasional issue leads us to believe that this is a simple fix but we do need to call it out. Single action mode functions normally and with no issues.
We also find one cosmetic issue. The cylinder stop does show some oxidation and we’ve attempted to show that in the photos. It generally wiped off but it is present and we bring this up in full disclosure of the condition.
Overall, this is a very desirable, very good condition, early model King Cobra. The two issues described above have been factored into pricing of the revolver. These early models have been very desirable and this one would be a great addition to your collection.
Purchase is for the revolver and a zippered, padded soft case. No other items are included.
This is a consignment sale and, like all of our consignments, we have not test fired this revolver. We have, however, performed our function checks. We find one cosmetic issue and one mechanical issue that are described above. As with all pre-owned firearm purchases, please review the photos carefully so that you are fully comfortable with the condition of the revolver.
