Payment Types Accepted: Bank to bank wire transfer (preferred), or bank cashier's check only Description: Famed forerunner to the model 70, this is a Winchester Model 54 in 30-06 caliber. Completely unaltered and in excellent condition for this model. Has early S/N 7733 with matching scribed bolt made during the 2nd year of production 1926. This was the first of the eventual 2 standard rifle styles with its slender schnabel tipped stock and integral post front sight. The barreled action shows mostly deep and bright bluing, but with some overall very light surface oxidation on the barrel. The bottom metal is among the best I've seen on this model, completely original but without the typical flaking and browning so often seen. The buttplate has worn to a silvery grey patina. The original wood finish is also very nice with only scattered light handling marks and rubs. The barrel channel is clean with no bedding, routing, or other issues. The rear receiver bridge remains UNDRILLED. All components are original issue including the factory inletted and installed long slide Lyman 48W receiver sight and supporting Lyman 6W 2 folding leaf rear sight. The barrel is 24" with an excellent shiny bore and all mechanical functions are smooth and proper. There were only about 50,000 Model 54s made in all calibers and grades, and of those, I would estimate that less than 20% remain collectible by any stretch of the imagination, the majority having been grossly modified. This one remains in excellent original condition, and is one of the finer examples that you will see offered over the long term. Please add $100 for expedited and fully insured shipping from Alaska.
