Synopsis:

An unusually nice late-war Mauser Borsigwalde K98k WWII German battle rifle with chamber marked ar/41, matching serial numbers, laminated stock, an excellent bore and proper function. Difficult to improve upon!

Description:

Wonderful, standard configuration late-war Mauser Borgsigwalde K98k, cal. 8mm, with all visible serial numbers matching, chamber marked ar/41, SN: 3788i, cal. 8mm, with correct laminated military stock, hooded serrated ramp drift adjustable front sight and a tangent rear sight graded 1-20. Left side of the receiver marked with the full serial number and Mod. 98. A scattering of acceptance markings along sides of receiver, barrel, floorplate, and stock. All parts matched to last four digits of serial number, including bayonet lug, both barrel bands, tangent sight, all components of the bolt, trigger guard assembly/floorplate, the laminated wooden stock that is numbered on the lower spine, and the in-the-white buttplate. Correct cleaning rod and sling.

Condition:

Near excellent and all-matching Mauser Borsigwalde K98k with light sharp edge wear and fading as one might expect from a lightly used but carefully maintained battle rifle. All components with original finish except for the rear barrel band, the one with sling attachment, whose darker hue and brighter surface suggests an old touch-up. Comparable condition stock with raised grain, never sanded, with a light scattering of handling marks, a few fresher marks on the lower buttstock. Moderately stained buttplate. Mirror bright bore with sharp rifling. Correct manual mechanics. Comparable condition sling with high point/flex related crazing. A high condition Mauser Borsigwalde K98k that would be difficult to improve upon!
