The Model 70 Super Shadow pairs Winchester’s legendary bolt-action design with the fast, short action 7mm WSM cartridge. Built on the lightweight super-short action and produced in Winchester’s historic New Haven plant shortly before its 2006 closure, this rifle combines modern materials with classic Model 70 features. A fluted stainless bolt, free-floated chromoly barrel, and three-position safety contribute to practical performance, while its limited production add collector appeal.
The rifle retains Winchester’s Pre-64 style full-length claw extractor and controlled-round feed for smooth, reliable cycling. A jeweled bolt body adds a touch of classic Winchester refinement and aids debris shedding in the field.

The Super Shadow was engineered around Winchester’s compact super-short action, allowing a shorter bolt throw and reduced overall weight while maintaining Model 70 reliability. Chambered in 7mm WSM, it offers magnum-level velocity in a standard-length action, making it an efficient choice for medium-game hunting. Firearm does not come with a rifle case.
A 24-inch tapered, free-floated chromoly barrel promotes consistent accuracy and manageable balance.
The matte blued finish on both barrel and receiver cuts glare in the field and resists corrosion.
The fluted stainless bolt body combines low friction operation with eye-catching contrast against the blued receiver. Winchester’s controlled-round push-feed system ensures positive cartridge control from magazine to chamber.
The black composite stock is outfitted with molded oval-dot grip panels, sling-swivel studs, and a rubber recoil pad. A blind internal magazine keeps the fore-end sleek and snag-free while providing a 4+1 capacity.
With its three-position wing safety, the shooter can lock the bolt, load or unload on safe, or fire, offering familiar Model 70 handling. The rifle bears the Winchester oval “WP" proof on the barrel, certifying factory inspection and proof testing.
