Winchester Model 12, serial number 1265323, produced in 1951 and chambered for 12 gauge 2¾" shells, represents one of the finest examples of the postwar “Perfect Repeater.” This example features the highly desirable solid matted rib and is correctly marked Improved Cylinder, one of the rarest factory choke configurations for this model. The action cycles smoothly with the characteristic precision that made the Model 12 legendary, and the trigger breaks cleanly.
The 28" barrel and receiver retain nearly all of their original factory blued finish with only the faintest traces of age-appropriate handling wear. The bore is clear, and the gun functions mechanically excellent. The original walnut stock and forend remain in beautiful condition with crisp lines and only the lightest handling marks typical of careful use. Length of pull measures 13.75" to the original Winchester buttplate, drop at comb 1.625", drop at heel 2.5", and overall weight 7 lb 10 oz — a wonderfully balanced field configuration.
A scarce factory combination of solid rib and Improved Cylinder makes this a standout among Model 12s. Collectors and shooters alike will appreciate the originality, finish quality, and smooth operation that have made the Model 12 a true American classic for over a century. Exceptional condition and a rare choke configuration place this example among the most desirable postwar Winchesters on the market.
