J. Purdy & Sons Sidelock Ejector Self Opening Double Rifle in .375 H & H Mag ( Belted / Rimless )
The Beesley patent self-opening action has side clips and Purdys' reinforced bolstered frame, disk set strikers, a bolted safety, and two triggers. Stock is reinforced with an extended top strap and a rolled trigger bow and an extended guard bow tang. The receiver has a brushed bright finish with well cut house Rose & Scroll engraving, gold inlayed cocking indicators and the word SAFE and BOLTED as well as the serial number are inlayed in gold.
Chopper Lump 23 inch barrels with rib extention third grip, quarter rib, with two folding leaf rear sights and claw mounts along with Purdy mounted Schmidt & Bender 1.5 -6x42 MM scope rest in one piece Purdy scope mount appropriately engraved and serial numbered to the rifle.
The well layed out walnut stock is very nicely fiqured with a full pistol grip and trap grip cap, leather pad, a blank gold oval and drop points. Purdy's unmistakeble beavertail forend has an Anson push rod.
Proofed in 1994 and completed in 1997, this rifle is featured in Donald Dallas' "Purdy Gun and Rifle Makers, The definitive History". An extreamly well made and rare rifle in a very useable confirguration.
