Description:

This Springfield Trapdoor rifle's caliber is the .45-70 Government SN 556517. The cartridge was developed specifically for this rifle and is composed of a .45 caliber bullet with 70 grains of black powder. The .45-70 round was the standard issue for the U.S. Army during the rifle's service life, which lasted from 1873 until around 1892.

Buffington" rear sight with a folding and extendable leaf that is adjustable for windage versus one of the the older, simpler "buckhorn" sights.

Very good. Bore riflings are very good and shiny as well. Small usage dings on the stock No cracks or signs of severe use. The serial number idicates production in 1892.
