Description: The Colt Python was introduced in 1955 as a premium target and combat revolver. It is considered to be one of the finest ever mass-produced because of its superior accuracy, smooth action, and tight cylinder lockup. It was built on the large I-frame, like the Trooper and the Lawman, but with the addition of a vented rib atop the barrel and a full-length lug underneath. The V-series serial number on this example places it in the 1979-1980 production range, during the heyday of Colt's premium revolver production, building 20,000 units in 1980 alone! It has factory grip panels with the Colt logo, with only a few small nicks and no cracks or visible scratches. The deep blued finish is in good shape with a minimal drag line showing on the fluted cylinder, which is also beveled for easier holstering and less wear on the holster itself. There are a few nicks around the muzzle, as seen in the photos, but nothing that should affect its accuracy. The backstrap is serrated and the wide checkered target hammer allows for easier single-action cocking. The serrated trigger is extremely smooth from start to finish with a crisp, light break in single-action. This Python, of course, does feature a transfer bar safety mechanism. Overall, this is not a safe queen, but a great shooter-grade Python that you wouldn't mind taking to the range but can still brag about at the neighbors' barbecue. This revolver is not sold with a case or box. .357 Mag Price: $2,799.99 Chambers: .357 Magnum Metal Condition: Good Wood Condition: Very good Bore Condition: Good Barrels: 6 Triggers: Grooved trigger; double/single-action Butt Pad: Checkered walnut grips with gold Colt medallions Weight: 2 lbs 11 oz Sights: Adjustable square notch rear sight with fixed serrated front ramp sight with matte top and vented rib Item Location: Kearney, NE |
