The Colt Official Police is a medium-frame, double-action revolver with a six-round cylinder, primarily chambered for the .38 Special cartridge. Originally introduced in 1908 as the Colt Army Special, it was renamed to "Official Police" in 1927 to better target law enforcement and became a bestseller. Key features include fixed sights, a swing-out cylinder, and a full-length ejector rod. Frame and action: Medium frame, double-action revolver. Cylinder: Six-round capacity. Caliber: .38 Special (primarily). Cylinder rotation: The cylinder rotates clockwise. Sights: Features a fixed blade front sight and a rear sight with a notch-style sight groove in the top strap.
