His firearms are noted for their high quality, especially considering they were made by hand. He reportedly only made a total of 9 pistols, making any surviving example a rare find. This example is in very good to excellence, original flintlock condition and of small, early, Lancaster "Kentucky Pistol" form. Octagonal-to-round, rifled, pin-fastened, .45 caliber, 3 1/2" barrel with a wedding-band barrel-transition and a cannon-form muzzle. Retains almost all of the original brown finish with light oxidation in the barrel. The wooden stock is in fine condition with hardly a blemish and excellence patina. The lock plate is embellished as is the hammer and under the pan. Mechanically has a strong mainspring with a worn trigger sear and will not stay at full cock most of the time. The ramrod is missing. Over-all a nice small flintlock pistol from a famous maker.; Price: $589.00 Antique: Yes |
