Six shot revolver with 6” barrel with original fixed front sight. All matching and original with the exception of the added lanyard ring and the non-factory mother-of-pearl grips. Excellent condition with most of the original blue showing light wear. The case hardened hammer and trigger still retain most of the original color. Grips which show little wear are inscribed in old partially legible ink on the undersides “38 S&W SPECIAL / THESE GRIPS PRESENTED BY/PRES. U.M.C. ACCT./CLOUR--- P/1909” and “W.L. HEIBERG/WAKEFIELD MASS. / CAMP PERRY. OHIO/1909”. Perfect working order and excellent bore. Easy google search found reference to Midshipman W.L Heiberg placing in the 1909 Camp Perry Wimbledon AND Presidents Match(along with printouts from said matches reporting in " Arms and the Man" weekley publication. Quick AI search gave me link to The Naval Academy's yearbook with references and photos of Class of 1909 yearbook including him. William LeRoy Heiberg went on to serve for 35 years and most notable was the Commanding officer at trh Miamai Naval Training station durintg WWII.
