Description:
VERY FINE CONDITION BISLEY, .38-40, 4 ¾” BARREL, #299XXX, COLT LETTER, SHIPPED 1907. Cylinder retains most of the blue with some thinning and edge wear only and deep blue in the flutes. The barrel also retains most of the blue with the usual holster streak of gray mainly on the left side toward the muzzle. The ejector housing is similarly gray on the outside with fine deep blue on the upper and lower sections. The back strap is thin blue-to-brown with fine deep blue on the butt and front strap. The trigger guard bow shows a little blue wear on the direct bottom with good blue on the remainder. Nice fire blue on the trigger sides and some good case color on the back portion of the hammer. Exc. screw heads show some fine blue. Exc. cylinder pin. Frame is mottled gray-brown with some good case color on the front portion ahead of the cylinder. Exc. grips, markings including the correct two line barrel address. Four clicks to the hammer, tight action and bright exc. bore. The front sight has not been altered or filed. The Colt factory letter verifies the above and shows shipment to Belknap Hardware & Mfg. Co., Louisville, KY on Sept. 13, 1907 with 2 guns in shipment. A nice, unmessed with example with good finish and with exc. mechanics/bore.
