This rifle retains 95-97% of the original blue on the barrel and nosecap, with some mild surface freckling and silvering at the muzzle and high edges and projections. The receiver, bolt, and trigger guard retain a commensurate amount of a reapplied blue finish that exhibits less freckling, and has left the markings quite crisp and clear. The magazine door andreceiver have turned to a predominantly freckled, gray-brown patina. The bolt has a marked armory bright finish with the balance turning to plum-brown on the handle. The walnut stock and handguard have numerous small handling marks and surface blemishes scattered about the reapplied varnish finish, and the barrel band has turned to a dull plum-brown. There is no cartouche visible, but the firing proof is still clear and crisp. This is an about about very good '98 Krag overall. FFL or C&R; Price: $995.00 Curio/Relic: Yes |
