Own a masterpiece of Victorian gunmaking with this Thomas Boss & Co. Double Percussion Rifle in 12 Gauge, crafted circa 1860 in London, England, by Thomas Boss, a renowned maker of high-end sporting arms. The serial number 1740 dates to the percussion era, when Boss rifles were prized for big-game hunting in Africa or India, with platinum plugs and lines for durability. This NO4473 antique, with 30" re-browned Damascus barrels, is a collector’s treasure for historical shooters or enthusiasts.

This example is in Very fine condition as professionally restored, with fine rifled bores for accurate black powder performance at 50–150 yards. The 30" barrels, re-browned with vivid Damascus pattern, feature percussion nipples, platinum plugs, and line at breech for corrosion resistance. The 3-leaf express rear and drift-adjustable front blade sights ensure precise aiming. The locks and hammers are finely scroll-engraved, with the stock oil-finished and well-figured. The engraved oval on the stock reads "ME SPIRANTER SPERO" (While I breathe, I hope), adding provenance. The action is mechanically excellent, with crisp percussion operation.
