"Serial No. 7236a, manufactured in 1903 by the Amberg Arsenal, 8mm, 29½" round barrel. Serial numbers are matching, except for the removable magazine floor plate. Finish has thinned to a light grey patina, with an arsenal repair noted on the stock just below the rear sight, wrapping fully around. Stock bears visible Imperial cartouches and shows characteristic combat wear from field service. Action is smooth and functions correctly. A solid and representative example of an early Imperial German Gewehr 98, produced prior to the First World War at the Amberg Arsenal.
