Offered for your consideration is a very scarce antique box of Winchester .44-40 (.44 WCF) cartridges for the Model 1873 and 1892 rifles, with a patent date of Dec. 14, 1886. This is thought to be the first smokeless soft point offering from Winchester (Giles & Shuey p.71). The labels are intact and readable with a few minor blemishes here and there. There are 46 original cartridges in the box, all in VG+ condtion. The 4 missing cartridges can be easily replaced with a little searching online or at a gun show. Overall an exceptional box of WRA cartridges that will display very nicely, and will be a fine addition to any collection - don't miss it!
The cartridges included in this listing are close to 150 years old - they are for display only and should not be used in any weapon!!
