Description:
This Savage 99RS is an unusual model of the more common 99R. The RS means R model with Special Sights. This rifle has a 24 inch barrel with a mirror bore. The stock and forearm are dark straight walnut and both numbered to the serial number of the rifle, as is the butt plate. The stock has a very small, hard to see crack where the receiver meets the top of the stock, the only fault on this rifle. The DOM is early 1950 which is the first year RS was produced after WW ll. The stamp on the lever boss is 23B code for 1950. The rear sight is the correct #70 LH Redfield Micrometer Rear Sight. The blank in the barrel rear sight and the front sight are correct. The 7/8 inch sling and post WW ll hook eye sling attachment are also correct. The 300 Savage caliber is close to the 308 and excellent for all around game. Shipping is $70 and C&R can be used.
