Description:
For your consideration is a Winchester Model 1895 chambered for the uncommon .38 72 WCF proprietary cartridge. This rifle was manufactured in Hartford, CT in 1904. Originally produced from 1895 to 1931, the Model 1895 was a Browning design incorporating the first box magazine in a lever action rifle. This configuration allowed it to be chambered for rimless spitzer cartridges.

It features a 26-inch round barrel, original No. 21 Sporting front sight and No. 22 Sporting rear sight, 5-shot box magazine, and walnut forearm with matching straight grip buttstock and crescent butt plate.

The original receiver finish is good in protected areas, though thinning in others, particularly the upper receiver. There is typical loss on the magazine due to action wear.

Barrel finish is very good with only minor handling marks. The bore is very good, fairly bright, with well-defined rifling. It should shoot accurately.

Stocks are very good with no cracks, splits, or gouges. Wood fitment is proud and tight. Finish appears to be original with no sanding. The original crescent butt plate is very good with some minor pitting.

Mechanically excellent with tight, smooth action and crisp trigger.

Overall, a nice example of a Winchester 1895 for your collection and/or shooting pleasure.
